This is one of the biggest pros to me.įun to build your own pedalboard setup to your liking!Įxpensive. They look cool with their different styles and formats.ĭedicated knobs/switches for most features. Your setup can be as simple or complex as you like. Plus a good analogy for why pedals are better. I'm curious to hear peoples thoughts and opinions. I LOVE putting together a new pedalboard, but HATE when something goes wrong and there's no easy way to tell which of the 20+ cables or footswitches it could be. I love being able to bend down and tweak settings mid song, but rarely do. I remember initially, it was because I thought the sound quality was better, but soon realised that was the kinda thing a Klon owner would say. I know why I switched to individual pedals, I just can't put it into words. But now I'm kinda sat here scratching my head like " why WOULDN'T you go for multi-fx, it's cheaper, more practical, simpler (at least parameter per effect wise) and they have everything a beginner in guitar effects would ever need. Anyway, I get to the end of my guitar effects essay and say: "Multi-fx sounds great right? Why would anyone pay 20x the amount on individual pedals? Well." I mentioned you can't go wrong with overdrive, delay & reverb, but thought it would be fair to mention there are multi-fx pedals - that contain a whole bunch of cool stuff for a not so ridiculous price. So my friend is wanting to get into guitar effects, he came to me asking advice on where to start.
