I am, and always will be, a Reflect "fan-boy", but I would like to see some imagination in its future development. The two key features that set Reflect ahead of the opposition is Rapid Delta Restore, and to a lesser degree Viboot (which you can do really by attaching rescue iso and restore to a vhd - viboot is just a slick way of doing that). V8 was a bit of a disappointment to me as it did not offer much over V7, other than a few minor gui tweaks and slightly better partition handling. I think Reflect is getting rather long in the tooth, both in its gui, and has not really offered much new for a few years now. The truth is AOMEI is gaining a lot of popularity as it is easy to use, and I know people like the sync feature. Why not try it, rather than saying it does it somewhat well. Have you actually tried it - it is really quite slick. I guess you could argue that imaging and cloning are different operations and Reflect does both, but I have Allway Sync for my sync needs, and in general I prefer to have separate applications that each fulfill their purposes very well rather than one application that does everything only somewhat well. I personally consider backup and syncing to be two different operations. Let's not get complacent or one day, Reflect may no longer be the market leader. So, I think this would be a truly brilliant development. I challenge the Reflect Development Team to download a trial of Aomei Pro and try the sync features - in this respect, Reflect is definitely slipping behind. but this feature is very slick, and I could see the corporate market really liking this feature. I know there are apps out there that can do this, or you can use robocopy (not in real time) etc. It even works to an external drive and if you unplug it and plug in later, it carries on. What is really great is if you boot pc, or shut it down, the next time you start pc, it just carries on from where you left off until you go and stop the automatic task. You can shutdown Aomei, and it just carries on working. So you can run any of the above in real time i.e. if you add files to source folder, they get copied to target folder leaving other files intact on target folder.Ģ) you can use mirror option i.e, target folder has exactly same files as source folder.ģ) Two - way synching - this is cool, but if you add files to either folder and they get synched to other folderįor each of the above, you set up tasks (bit like Reflect definition xml files), so you can save tasks and do whenever you want.Ĥ) Automatic Folder synching - you can set up tasks to work in real time - this is a really powerful feature. It has a really great sync folder data option.ġ) You can sync files added to source folder i.e. The way I did, is that setting security on directories is sufficientįor most people.I have been testing the trial version of Aomei Backupper Pro Also, another reason I chose to do things This was an adequate implementation for most When I wrote the “security copy” part of Robocopy on, IĬhose to do this for performance reasons, to keep Robocopy times for You can find complete information about why coping folder permissions can't work when there's no modifications in files and folders and why permissions on files are not copied in older versions of Robocopy.
